Twitter introduces the Cashtag

Today, Twitter announced that ticker symbols like $AAPL are now clickable through its web client, expanding search capabilities in the form of “cashtags”. This new addition to Twitter’s search grabs results about stocks and companies in the same way that a hashtag does topics and trends. In the future, this new “cashtag” feature will probably be expanded with stock information and separate stock trends. Desktop & Mobile application Tweetdeck hasn’t received the update yet, but is likely in the works.
