One of the world's leading electronic audio companies for nearly 60 years, Sennheiser prides itself on innovation and expertise. As part of its ongoing e-commerce service strategy Sennheiser required a dedicated shopping channel for their spare and replacement parts to provide a quick and efficient way for dealers and customers to order spare parts. This new model was piloted with its professional audio product range through partner Bruce Cocks of Showcomms Ltd and serves three core product groups: MKH Wired Microphones; Evolution Wireless; and Pro Audio Headphones.
Ecce Media currently provides rock-solid hosting and support for Bruce's Showcomms site, built by a previous developer on osCommerce. For a project of this size, with fast turnarounds, Bruce naturally contacted Ecce Media for the implementation. A detailed look at the scope of the project, the performance requirements now and at a future scale meant that off-the-shelf software such as osCommerce wasn't a viable option when compared with a feature-rich custom installation of Ecce Media's e-commerce platform Ensemble 3.0e.
Developed on our trusted and proven Ensemble 3.0e platform, Ecce Media was able to turn around the project in well under the 8 week project time frame.
Careful consideration was given to the categorisation and structuring of the product offerings in order to make their discovery and purchase as easy for the casual shopper as an industry expert.
Spare parts are often non-descript and hard to identify when taken in isolation. Customers aware of the manufacturer part number (mpn) are well served by Ensemble’s search engine, but those customers who only know the parent item the part comes from need to easily navigate through these non-purchasable items to arrive at the desired spare. Extra user guidance is also provided through the use of exploded diagram assets, illustrating a product’s constituent parts. The upload and delivery of these assets, like all aspects of the catalogue administration and CMS, is managed by the client using the Ensemble dashboard and its custom-built modules.
When working with globally recognised brands, any new edition must integrate seamlessly with the established corporate identity. As such, the design and UX built upon the strict Sennheiser UK Corporate Identity guidelines. The result is a user experience that fits nicely within the Sennheiser family of websites with a look that occasionally evolves from the parent design when required.
The website launched mid-May and started taking orders immediately. The cleanly coded construction and detailed attention to the URL architecture paid off, as the freshly launched site was quickly indexed by the major search engines and began ranking well for the client’s target keywords.
Sennheiser UK has been suitably impressed with the offering and has chosen Ecce Media’s Ensemble 3.0e to be its preferred platform of choice for all other 3rd party partners.
