Silksoundbooks is another company to enjoy a significant increase in the number of website visitors since hiring Ecce Media to improve their website. With an improved look and feel, a new, simple download system, and an enhanced search function, the new website is giving visitors what they want, and so helping this exciting new audio books company to grow.
Through Silksoundbooks, leading actors such as Bill Nighy, Jane Horrocks and Tom Baker have been able to bring a wide range of classics such as Black Beauty, Ivanhoe and Jane Eyre to life for a new audience. It launched its first website in 2007, and it performed well enough, but MD, Robbie Weston wanted to bring his audiobooks to an ever wider audience so he brought in web design agency Ecce Media.
Robbie says: “The site re-launched in October 2009, with a clean, fresh look, and a host of new functions. It’s now easy for visitors to find the book they want and to listen to a sample recording. Once they’ve decided to buy they can pay in either pounds or dollars depending on whether they’re looking at the UK or US version, and the new download manager is incredibly easy to use. In fact it’s so easy that it’s significantly reduced the number of support calls we have to field.”
Furthermore, the site now performs very well on the search engines. In fact, when James Caan's audiobook "The Real Deal" was launched it was indexed on Google within two days and was soon ranking higher than James Caan’s own site. This improved performance on the search engines has allowed the company to slash its spending on pay-per-click campaigns.
The site also uses Ensemble, Ecce Media’s content management system, which allows Silksoundsbooks to add new books, edit content and update the blog themselves, keeping the site constantly fresh and relevant.
Robbie concludes: “Not only does this new site give our customers a much better experience, but it’s allowed more of them to find us, and has helped take our business onto the next level. It’s really shown me the value of a professionally designed and developed website.”
